Clarity in the tech careers market.

Technology is one of the most exciting and accessible career spaces in the world — but it can also be one of the most confusing to navigate. OccuVista exists to change that.

The problem we're solving

The technology industry is vast, fast-moving, and full of job titles that mean different things in different organisations. A "Data Analyst" at one company looks nothing like a "Data Analyst" at another. A "Software Engineer" and a "Software Developer" are often used interchangeably — but not always.

For students exploring their options, for career switchers trying to break in, and for professionals looking to move within the industry — this ambiguity is a real barrier. Too many people make career decisions based on incomplete information, job titles they don't fully understand, or salary data that doesn't reflect reality.

Right now, OccuVista is a career intelligence platform — structured, researched, and built to give you clarity on the technology industry. Over time, we're building towards something deeper: tools that connect your strengths and interests to the right career paths, and eventually connect people to the mentors and communities that can help them get there.

We're just getting started. The library will grow, the tools will deepen, and the platform will evolve — built around the people using it and the careers they're trying to understand.

Who built this

OccuVista was built by a founder who has spent time working in and around the technology industry — and who understands first-hand how confusing the careers landscape can be, even for those already inside it.

We built OccuVista because we couldn't find the resource we wanted to exist. Something structured, honest, and genuinely useful — not just a list of job titles, but real intelligence about what each role involves, what it pays, what skills it needs, and where it can take you.

Who OccuVista is for

OccuVista is for anyone trying to make sense of technology careers — at any stage.

  • Students and school leavers exploring technology as a career for the first time
  • Graduates deciding which direction to take their degree or skills
  • Career switchers from other industries who want to understand where they could move into tech
  • Professionals already working in technology who want to understand adjacent roles or plan their next move
  • Parents, teachers, and advisors who want to give better guidance to the people they support

Our mission

Our mission is simple: help people understand what they're interested in, what they might be good at, and equip them with the knowledge and resources to explore it — and get into it.

How our content is researched

Every role and category on OccuVista is researched and written to a consistent editorial standard. Role profiles are informed by job listings, industry reports, and professional communities — covering what each role actually involves day-to-day, what skills and tools are genuinely required, what realistic salary ranges look like across the UK and US, and what career progression typically looks like.

Salary data reflects typical market ranges as of 2025, benchmarked against publicly available industry surveys and job market data. We update our content regularly to reflect changes in the market. Where the industry evolves — new roles emerge, old ones change — so does OccuVista.
