Confluence
Documenting decisions, processes, and knowledge for teams that build software
Confluence is Atlassian's team wiki and documentation platform, used by engineering, product, and IT teams to create, organise, and maintain documentation. Teams use it to write technical specifications, decision records, runbooks, meeting notes, and onboarding guides in a structured page hierarchy. Content is organised into spaces — typically one per team or product — with pages nested within them and linked across spaces where relevant. Confluence integrates directly with Jira, allowing work items and documentation to reference each other. It is the default documentation layer in organisations running the Atlassian toolchain, and is widely used in parallel with Jira across software development and IT operations teams.
